Volunteers make meals for St. Vincent de Paul Shelter guests

Volunteer Positions

Front Desk Assistants (Individual):
Answer and direct phone calls, greet shelter guests and visitors, distribute mail, phone messages and medication, along with other misc. duties as assigned. (GSWF, GGM, DePaul, SSVF)

Serving Meals (Individual or Group):
Serve prepared meals to the shelter guests and assist with cleanup (dishes, wiping down counters/tables, and sweeping). (GSWF, GGM)

Fix & Serve Meals (Individual or Group):
Donate a meal and serve it to the shelter guests and assist with cleanup (dishes, wiping down counters/tables, and sweeping) (GSWF, GGM, DePaul)

Fix a Meal (Individual or Group):
Provide a prepared meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) to the shelter on a scheduled basis (once or recurring). (GSWF, GGM, DePaul)

Meal Prep/Fix Ahead Meal (Group):
Assist kitchen staff with preparing food for a future meal. (GSWF)

Laundry (Individual or Group):
Assist with the washing, drying and folding of linens and towels. Volunteers make sure clean linens are placed on carts and returned to the dorms. (GSWF)

Dorm Assistants(Individual):
Assist evening staff with bed assignments, distributing personal care items and linens, and help with clean-up. (GSWF)

Clothing Room (Individual):
Assist in stocking clothing room with clean and appropriate clothing by sorting daily donations. (GSWF)

Donation Door (Individual):
Assist with answering the back door and accepting donations. Helps with unloading cars, thanking donors and provides receipts. (GSWF, CS)

Housekeeping (Individual):
Assist weekly with light housekeeping in the common areas. (GSWF, GGM, DePaul, SH)

Food Pantry Baggers (Individual or Group):
Assist with sorting and bagging groceries in preparation for the pantry on the following Wednesday. (FP)

Food Pantry Shoppers: (Individual or Group)
Assist with distributing groceries on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month. Ideal for groups of 5-10 volunteers. (FP)
Clerical: (Individual or group)
Assist with data entry, filing, mailings and other misc. tasks. Mon-Fri between 9am-4pm. (Admin)

Front Desk:
Volunteers answer and direct phone calls, greet shelter guests and visitors, distribute mail and phone messages.

Housekeeping:
Assist weekly with light housekeeping in the common areas of permanent supportive housing sites.

Community Store

Cashier/Store Clerk:
Volunteers assist with helping customers and operating a cash register.

Dock Door:
Assist with answering the dock door and accepting donations. Helps with unloading cars, thanking donors and provides receipts.

Food Pantry

Baggers:
Assists with sorting and bagging groceries in preparation for the pantry on the following Wednesday.

Shopper:
Assists with distributing groceries on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month. Ideal for groups of 5-10 volunteers.

Group donates a meal and serves it to the shelter guests and assist with cleanup (dishes, wiping down counters/tables, and sweeping) (4-6 volunteers)

Assist with stripping and washing linens and sanitizing mattresses. (5-10 volunteers)

General Cleaning:
Sweeping common areas, washing walls and windows, dusting. (5-10 volunteers)

Painting:
Assist with light painting and touch up painting on interior and/or exterior walls. (5-10 volunteers)

Landscaping:
Assist with general landscaping – weeding, mulching, trimming, planting flowers, etc.. (5-10 volunteers)

Outdoor Cleanup:
Sweep parking lots, pick-up grounds, power-wash walkways and building walls. (5-10 volunteers)

Supportive Housing

Fix a Meal:
Provide a meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) that is prepared off-site to a housing program on a scheduled basis (once or recurring).

Landscaping:
Assist with general landscaping – weeding, mulching, trimming, planting flowers, etc.. (5-10 volunteers)

Food Pantry

Baggers:
Assist with sorting and bagging groceries in preparation for the pantry on the following Wednesday. (5-10 volunteers)

Shoppers:
Assist with filling shopping carts and distributing groceries on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month. (5-10 volunteers)

Administration

Mailings:
Assists with filling and labeling envelopes for bulk mailings. (5-10 volunteers)

Special Projects

Other Opportunities

Bag Lunch Donation:
Group schedules a date to donate between 25-150 prepared bag lunches.

Collection/Donation Drive:
Organize a drive to collect and donate needed items such as canned food, personal care items, clothing, shoes, linens, etc.
