Through St. Vincent de Paul’s partnership with New Life Furniture Bank, donated furniture received at St. Vincent de Paul’s CityThrift store location will be distributed to qualifying households by New Life Furniture Bank, allowing each organization to focus on its strengths while serving more neighbors in need.

Our goal is to bring quality furniture, stability, and hope to neighbors in need.

Your donations of gently used furniture can transform empty houses into stable homes for Dayton neighbors rebuilding after homelessness or other crises.

Donate easily in one of two ways:

1. Drop off furniture at St. Vincent de Paul’s CityThrift location
OR
2. Call New Life Furniture Bank to schedule a pickup.

Then, New Life Furniture Bank will sort donations and collaborate with referral partners to deliver furniture to families in need across the Greater Dayton region.

Together, we’ll transform empty houses into comfortable homes for neighbors working to rebuild their lives.

Acceptable Items for Furniture Donation

Please see acceptable furniture items below. We accept gently used or new items in “dignity condition” (no rips, stains, or pet hair) so that we can serve our neighbors in need with not only furnishings, but hope and comfort.

What is New Life Furniture Bank?

New Life Furniture Bank is the region’s furniture bank, serving Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Southeast Indiana, and the Greater Dayton region. New Life collects gently used furniture and distributes it to individuals and families overcoming homelessness, domestic violence, extreme poverty, and other significant crises.

Since its founding, New Life Furniture Bank has furnished more than 17,500 homes and served more than 40,000 individuals.

Where can I drop off furniture donations?

You can continue to drop off gently used furniture at St. Vincent de Paul Dayton’s CityThrift donation drive-through. CityThrift will remain the primary community drop-off location for furniture donations.

Furniture accepted through CityThrift will be distributed by New Life Furniture Bank to qualifying individuals and families throughout the Greater Dayton region.

Can I still donate furniture to St. Vincent de Paul?

St. Vincent de Paul Dayton will continue accepting furniture donations at its CityThrift donation drive-through. However, through this partnership, accepted furniture will be transferred to and distributed by New Life Furniture Bank. Your donations will still help neighbors supported through St. Vincent de Paul’s ministries.

What if I need my furniture donation picked up?

New Life Furniture Bank is now providing furniture pickup services throughout the Greater Dayton region.

Is there a fee to have my furniture picked up?

New Life Furniture Bank offers free furniture pickups as well as a Priority Pickup option. Availability and any applicable fees depend on the type and timing of the pickup. Visit nlfurniture.org or call 513-313-0530 for current pickup options.

What types of furniture can I donate?

New Life Furniture Bank accepts many of the household furniture items families need most, including sofas, loveseats, dining tables and chairs, dressers, nightstands, and other essential home furnishings. A complete list of accepted items can be found here: https://nlfurniture.org/take-action/donate-furniture/ Because furniture goes directly into the homes of our neighbors, donated items should be clean, gently used, functional, and free from major damage, stains, odors, pet hair, or pests.

Where does my donated furniture go?

Accepted furniture is distributed by New Life Furniture Bank to individuals and families who are referred by a partnering agency throughout Southwest Ohio.

Your donated table could become the place where a family shares dinner. A donated dresser can help someone finally unpack their belongings. A sofa can help turn an empty room into a place that feels like home.

How do I receive furniture if I need help?

If you need furniture assistance, please work with a participating social service agency or St. Vincent de Paul conference. Your referral partner will determine eligibility.

Can I call New Life Furniture Bank directly to request furniture?

Furniture assistance requires a referral from an approved partner agency. If you are currently working with a social service organization or St. Vincent de Paul conference, ask your caseworker or contact about a furniture referral.

Will St. Vincent de Paul still help people who need furniture?

Yes. St. Vincent de Paul Dayton remains deeply committed to serving neighbors throughout the Greater Dayton community. St. Vincent de Paul conferences and other participating social service agencies will continue helping identify and refer qualifying households for furniture assistance.

New Life Furniture Bank will then fulfill those furniture referrals through its furniture bank operations.

What is changing because of this partnership?

The biggest change is how furniture donations are collected and distributed. If you are dropping off furniture: Continue bringing it to St. Vincent de Paul Dayton’s CityThrift donation drive-thru. If you need furniture picked up: New Life Furniture Bank is now your furniture pickup provider. If you need furniture assistance: Continue working with an approved referral partner, including participating St. Vincent de Paul conferences and social service agencies.

What isn't changing?

Our shared commitment to serving neighbors. St. Vincent de Paul Dayton will continue walking alongside individuals and families throughout the Greater Dayton community.
