Conferences: Our Neighborhood Ministries

The Conferences of St. Vincent de Paul are the Dayton community’s most effective channels of assistance to those at risk of homelessness. A Conference is a group of  volunteers (typically associated with a Catholic parish or school) that offers person-to-person support to neighbors in need of assistance.

The members of our Conferences (also known as Vincentians) provide friendship and spiritual support to those they assist, often in the form of a home visit—a trademark of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Through the home visit, they are able to determine how best to help the individual or family in crisis. They may provide help with utility bills, rent, medicine, food, clothing, household items, and furniture. As they say, “No act of charity is foreign to the Society.”

Over 600 Vincentians in more than 30 Conferences assist those living within the geographic region, regardless of race, religion, or personal beliefs.

To learn more about our neighborhood Conferences and the opportunity to grow in spirituality and friendship, through service to our neighbors in need, contact the Director of Neighborhood Ministries, 937.222.5555, ext. 201.
