Conferences: Our Most Effective Weapon

The conferences of St. Vincent de Paul are the Dayton community’s most effective weapon in the fight against homelessness. Over 950 Vincentians in 32 Conferences assist those living within the geographic area of the parish, no matter what their faith. They may provide help with utility bills, rent, medicine, food, clothing, household items, and furniture. More important than financial or household aid, our Vincentian members provide friendship and spiritual support to those they help.

What is a Conference?

Person-to-person assistance is at the core of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. A Conference is a group of volunteers, typically associated with a Catholic parish or school. The members of our Conferences (also known as Vincentians) will visit the homes of those they assist. Through the home visit, Vincentians determine how to best help the individual or family in crisis. The home visit is a trademark of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
