We do not support Ohio Issue 1.

St. Vincent de Paul Society, Dayton District Council believes in the dignity of every human person. We also believe that each person is created in the image and likeness of God. Every day we accompany our most vulnerable and forgotten brothers and sisters. It is our mission to walk with them and assist them regardless of their circumstances or the choices they make.

Some of the most vulnerable people we assist in our ministries are pregnant women and their unborn children. We see firsthand the many challenges that mothers face in this broken world when experiencing an unexpected pregnancy. This is why we stand with other social service organizations – Catholic and secular alike – to create a community of support and assistance for them, to protect and care for both mother and child during pregnancy and beyond. We believe firmly that both mother and child deserve equal love, respect, and protection under the law.

In this light, we stand against Ohio’s Issue 1, which disregards the dignity of human life at its most defenseless stage and threatens to enshrine the estrangement of mother and child into law. We encourage you to take the time to read further and make an informed decision at the polls this November to protect and respect the dignity of every human life: https://tinyurl.com/3ju5xufj
